I was shopping at Target recently and realized I could use some new bath towels. I picked out a couple, started to walk away and thought, “brown?! C’mon Angel! Life should be fun and colorful! 21 year-old you would never buy sensible, plain brown towels!” Young me would have bought something bright and colorful, in a paisley pattern if possible.
Is this what happens, that as you age you cease to be excited by color? It’s like, “color, weeee, been there, done that?” Is that why elderly people wear a lot of beige? “This jacket comes in blue or beige, but I don’t need the razzle-dazzle of blue anymore, that’s kid stuff!”
“Hey Grandma, do you remember the time you wore chartreuse?”
“It was 1966. The hippy era was beginning to take old and it was a lovely dress…”
